FISHERMANS WIFE-Waiting for you

"Waiting for you" is a painting I made for "FANNU" exhibition.

From this painting I have tried to show the lonely and long hours spent by a fisherman's wife, waiting for the husband to return after a days catch.

"FANNU",cultural vibrancy through art-is the first exhibition I participated in.The exhibition gave an opportunity for many artists to show their talent.Thanks a lot OBSCURA for giving us this great opportunity.

"BODUBERU" means the big drum

"Boduberu" is one of the traditional music and dance performed by the people of Maldives.Males and females of different ages join together in this music to celebrate occasions like Eid.

RAIVERIYAA...a unique way to say I am in love

I can still remember some of the stories my grandpa told me when I was a boy.One of the story was about how they proposed to their loved ones.He said they used to send a young coconut(Kurumbaa)to the girl they like.If the girl accepts the gift it means that she is also interested in him.

Maldives is a nation with small islands surrounded by the deep blue sea.People living in these beautiful islands depend a lot on the fish they get from the sea.Let us all join our hands to preserve this unique gift for the coming generations.
